Mexico in September

The story goes...I had decided Mexico, Playa Dal Carmen, was the place to go for my 30th bday with my OH in Sep 2010, then after looking into it further I discovered this were perhaps the worst time to go weather wise. I have trawled through brochures & websites trying to find another destination which fits the bill (somewhere different to our usual Spain/Greece, nice hotel, fab beach to relax on through the day with nice food, a few drinks and a bit of evening entertainment with the option of a couple of trips) but nothing seemed to fit the bill (Cape Verde- too quiet / Egypt - mixed hotel reports / Aruba - too expensive for us). So getting back to the point has anyone been to Mexico (PDC in particular) in September and what weather did you encounter, would you risk going back the same time of year?

Thanks x

  • I stayed in Playacar in September. Good weather - it rained most days, but I mean a light shower with the sun still out. We just got in the pool whilst it was raining and it didnt bother us atall.

Still 30degrees+ and still sunny. We only had 1 day out of the 14 where it rained most of the day, we just sat in the bar reading and playing cards.

It is a gamble though in September. it is right in the middle of the hurricane season and they do quite regularly hit Mexico.

    Hi

We went to Playa del Carmen in September two years ago and had an amazing time. There was a couple of evenings when we had a bit of rain and one day when it rained all morning, but that was all. The rest of the time it was hot and sunny. For any information you want on Playa have a look at https://www.playa.info.

Thanks for that. I keep thinking just go for it but then I think it's not fair on the poor people who live there as I have the worst luck in the world and would be bound to be hit by a hurricane!!
