Try the HTC magic - I managed to get vodafone to give it free, 300 mins and unlimited text and texts for under £25DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
My contract originally had 600 minutes - I asked them to reduce it to 400 to make it a bit easier for them to offer me the handset at a lower price or reduce my line rental. I use about 200 minutes a month so there is no need for 600 mins.
To be honest, the attitude of the Orange staff where very relaxed to say the least. They didn't seem remotely bothered about losing my custom so because of that I am definately leaving them.
I still have the iPhone but have until tomorrow to return it if I don't want it. I like the handset but the text allowance is killing me.
Texts are so old school - if all your mates have smart phones its probebly better to email them instead. If they havent got a smartphone tell them to get one!0 -
Dear all,
My upgrade for 02 is due next month, unsure really what to get as there is nothing great out there.
I did ring up Upgrades team, from what ive been told they are not doing any special offers on tariffs.
What my plan was to maybe buy the iphone out right then get a simplicity tariffs seems like a logical solution.
But on the otherside on the coin, the HTC hero very slick device very clever UI thats avaliable sim only on play.com for £399.99.
Really stuck, if i go for 12 month simplicity tariff wud i get a good retention offer in a years time, as i know at the moment 02 aint doing great offers as they are pushing the iphone.
Also does Cloud WIFI work with o2 simplicity? i heard you can put in the pay and go number and it works.
I dont know its hard, should i get a handset that most ppl have or get something different, its weird, i got offered a good deal 16 months ago and now i know for a fact the mobile companies never offer great deals.
Im only a student so a sim only seems like logical solution, then obviously when im working fulltime i can afford a better tariff.
Just really need a phone.
Put my Blackberry 8320 to help fund a sim only handset. Is the iphone worth the premium, as this country doesnt even support the full 3G services as half the population dont know what it is. o2 is the worst apparently! behind 3G, Orange, & T-mobile but i prefer 02 as they offer awesome data usage.

Well I've got an Iphone 3Gs with unlimited internet and I get a good 3G signal when I'm not using wifi, I suppose it depends where you are but I would think most areas get it now.A problem shared is a problem multiplied.

Coldasice - do you really need a phone like you say? If I was in your position being a student with a (presumeably) limited income I would stick with what you are currently using and go with your plan to get a sim only. It's not worth shelling out so much for phone with all the bells and whistles if you can't afford it.0

In case you go with the Hero it's cheaper at Expansys, £379.99:

£30 worth of vouchers if you order before the end of the month too.0
