my partner has currently left his job as he needed to move to my city for personal reasons and his work place would be a 10 hours travel for the full round trip. he going to be living on his brothers sofa and sometimes will be staying at mine (my parents will only allow it for a few days a week). he 22 and has been in full time work for 4 years (before that he was in full time education) and has been paying his NI.he is activally looking for work and has been for almost 5 months now but no luck so far (fingers crossed he finds work soon) is he entitled to JSA and is he entitled to anything else as he doesnt have a permanent address?

The fact that he will be living on his brothers sofa won't affect his claim for JSA.
He is entitled to make a claim for JSA however will have to complete a form explaining why he left his previous job voluntarily. His claim will then go to a decision maker who will decide whether he is entitled to claim JSA.
He should remember to give as much information as possible regarding why he left his previous job voluntarily as it will be that information that the decision maker will use.
Worst case scenario would be that he would not be entitled to claim JSA for 26 weeks but since he left his previous employment about 20 weeks ago he wouldn't have too long to wait.0 -
the bit about the sofa was to enquire about other benefits he maybe able to claim0

I hope he is entitled to receive JSA, but he should apply soon (ie. tomorrow) so that he gets credited with NI contributions. As far as I know he should get this regardless of the decision that is made. Sometimes the phone lines are really busy so the earlier he phones the better (lines open at 8am).0

Does he have to be registered as liviing somewhere to get it?
