Do not send the item until it is showing as cleared in your paypal account, they 14 days to clear.

Beware of buyers who say payment has been sent wheres my item. Say it has to clear b4 u send.

I think online banking enables people to send a cheque electronically instead of paper ones through the post.
Unfortunately,it takes some days to clear so I wouldn't send the item until the 'payment pending' sign changes to the 'paid' sign.

A paypal echeque is an irritating thing, itusually means the buyer has paid by a bank transfer into paypal and funds are not cleared. They seem to take forever to clear, I had one take 3 weeks and which finally cleared this morning.

Under no circumstances send the item until you get a note from paypal to say the payment has cleared, as an echeque can bounce or be recalled right up to the moment it clears.

I recently got paid by an e-cheque. Instead of taking 14 days to clear it took 21!! Me and the buyer were very fed-up especially as he had cleared funds available. You will get paid but don't hold your breath :( And to repeat the above poster do not send your goods till you have got the cleared funds.

I'm still waiting for an echeque to clear that was paid into my Paypal account on the 10th of April. I'm keeping the buyer informed and that i'll send the item out as soon as payment has cleared and I haven't forgotten about them. She said it had left her account on Thursday last week but in my Paypal account it says that the estimated date for clearance is the 21st of April.

The buyer told me to check my paypal account. I feel guilty for keeping them waiting for so long but it isn't my fault.

jackieb, my echeque that cleared today was for the 4th April so it may be a while yet until yours clears.

I phoned paypal yesterday and had a real moan and got them to count out all the days that had elapsed and even they admitted it was a long time. I did wonder if it was a coincidence that it actually cleared within hours of me moaning at them!

The buyer thanked me for keeping them informed but I felt as they thought it was my fault, as it was showing as leaving their account last week. She said it had been for a birthday present and now it was too late. I feel tempted to send it out before it has cleared but I won't. I hope I don't get any negative or neutral feedback as i'm just starting selling.

funnily enuff Soolin the e-cheque I was waiting for cleared less than an hour after I emailed complaining about the wait! Me thinks there's a pattern here.....

I kept in touch with my buyer all the way through too and he has just given me lovely feedback :)

The longer it takes to "clear", the longer Paypal have the money sitting in their bank account earning them interest. That's the only reason why it takes so long. A normal bank transfer takes 3 working days.

Can you refuse to accept an e cheque if you display the paypal logo on your listings?
