Graduate with Graduate Job starting in October, Claim Job seekers allowance?

Hi
My current status is that i have finished university and have got a graduate job with the government. The job is confirmed but due to where I am working I have to go through an incredible amount of security checks and vetting which means although the job was confirmed early april this year I wont being until October.
Is it possible for me to claim job seekers allowance as i am still technically seeking a job as i am going through the security interviews and checks. I am living with my parents until I move to the job.
I phoned job seekers and went through the 30 min interview and have an interview booked for this Wednesday at the job center. I was told that until i start my graduate job i will have to actively seek employment. The fact is that i do not want to do any part time work until my graduate position starts.
What I assume is that every two weeks i would have to show evidence of seeking a job in which I could just show some of the paper work of my graduate position.

In which case you would not be eligible for Jobseekers Allowance.in which I could just show some of the paper work of my graduate position.
No, you would need to show evidence of other jobseeking i.e. for temporary jobs until October, and/ or for other permanent jobs in case your current offer is revoked.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Actually I am in a similar situation but I am already on JSA. Some interviews I passed for a position has a 5-8 week vetting process, but the way I see it, you aren't guaranteed any job until they tell you to start.
I found another p/t work while my vetting process goes through.
You have already answered your own question... you need to be looking for work to be on JSA, but tbh the amount of work needed to spend looking for work is not much, just apply to 20 jobs a week or something and attend interviews.
Goodluck and congrats on the grad job!0 -
Why would you not want to work? Surely thats a bit..lazy? Accept money from people who pay tax just for sitting on your bum when you could get a temp job (or at least attempt to get one? Nope, thats hardly fair.0

The reason that I do not want to do any part time work until october is the the area of work I am starting in the government is literally classified. I am not allowed to say which organization it is but is is incredibly high risk and a very good reason for why it takes them 6 months to go through my entire life history. They found out more abut me than I did myself. I am diving into way beyond the deep end in terms of a recant graduate so I am resting and preparing as much as possible before my start date.
I am not looking to defraud, just to take advantage of anything that I am legally eligible for.0 -

If I wanted to find someone from your employer organisation for whatever reason, but was not concerned to find a specific person, what better place to start? You could even expect this to turn up when you are revetted.
Best to take Jobseekers seriously.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

to be legally eligible for JSA you have to look for work and take it seriously, so if you dont, you dont deserve it. why should you get money to sit on your bum? if you are diving into the deep end and have to take more than two months off to 'rest' then maybe you should not be doing the job? You cant even work 16 hours a week? I am sorry but I know people who are more deserving than you for JSA and are not eligible for various reasons, and you really dont deserve it.0 -

he/she is indicidive of what is wrong with the benefits system - why should they get money to not work when they could try and get a job? he/she got their advice - you have to be actively seeking work to get jsa and they have stated they dont want to work so they dont deserve a penny. simple.0 -

its not a negative attitude, its the truth. I'm not going to refuse a guaranteed job tomorrow on the basis of another one as I havent been offered the other one yet, despite vetting.0
