Help with incompetent holiday company

Hi All,
Recently myself and my girlfriend booked a holiday over the phone from a company.
I was told it would be £620 including everything, however at the end of the call she said okay thats £665 taken from your card thank you. When I asked about the difference she said it was the booking fee. However as this was the price it was retailing for on the Thompson website I just let it go as I didnt want to go through the hassel of cancelling and paying agin etc.
So thats my first experience then last week I had to go into hospital for an emergency operation and have only come out today, the holiday is set to fly on the 5th and there is no way I can fly. Luckly I have insurance and they will pay out on a few conditions;
1. I provide the invoice
2. I provide the cancellation confirmation
3. I provide a medical certificate.
So I have number 3 but I dont have 1 or 2 so a phone call to the company goes like this
Call 1. - Wrong department - puts me through and goes dead
Call 2. - I explain everything to someone who doesnt sound interested and hangs up
Call 3. - No Answer
Call 4. - No Answer
I have sent them an e-mail asking them to cancel the holiday and if they can send me documents 1 and 2 but I am worried they are not going to do it.
What can I do?
Thanks

Hi Donny, thanks for the offer.
Fortunately call number 7 got through,
The lady said they were having trouble with their lines and the e-mail I sent a few days ago must have been lost and she promised to send the correct documentation to me tomorrow!! Fingers crossed, I only wasted 4 hours of my life on hold lol....
If they dont though I may be in a bit of a pickle!0 -

Hi, Well its 2 days since I was promised the e-mail and no such e-mail has appeared.
I have spent all morning calling to only be cut off several times, their phone setup must be awful.
Now I have just got through and have been told that the cancellation has gone through but we need to wait 2 weeks for Thompson to send through the cancellation from their end.
Any advice please? Is this normal practice?
If we dont get these documents we lose all £600.....
The company is yourholdidays.com0 -
Hi these things do take time and as long as you keep the insurance company informed they will know how long it takes to get these forms, its just a nuisance for you having to wait to get your money back but unfortunately thats life. All i can say is its a lot less hassle trying to sort these things out if you'd booked through a travel agent and not online as they would have done all the ringing round for you, 90% of the time travel agents will match internet prices of course unless they seem to good to be true. Good luck.0
