What exactly are the DWP's help and subsidies?
Is it £30 a week or something like an Employer's National Insurance allowance?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

Well, there is an employment subsidy, which is £500 up front and another £500 if the person is still employed after 6 months. On top of that, they can apply for training funding. I was also referring to things like Work Trials, where a person tries a job out for 5-15 days, but doesn't sign-off, just gets a meal allowance, etc. This enables employer and employee to see if they are suitable for a job without a full commitment initially.Fokking Fokk!0 -
Can ANYONE apply for a Job Centre job marked LEP - or do you have to be unemployed?:rolleyes:0

I was led to believe by jobcentre staff that firms offering LEP positions had to give unemployed folks who were referred to them by jcp (or affiliated agencies- jobclubs etc) at least a guarantee of an interview..
That has yet to happen, for the ones I went for- even when doing a special app form, which was reviewed and sent on with covering email..
there is (or was) a 'recruitment incentive' (ie, bribe) for firms taking on long term claimers, tiwards costs of training new staff etc.
i think it is £500 when the job starts (paid to the firm, not worker!), and same again if still there after a few months..
its not well advertised, though could make difference between your application, or even speculative letter, and some other hopeful..
needs must..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
The LEP in the advert refers to the employer's status in relation to the DWP, and not the job advertised.
The job advertised is the same as any other and can be applied for by anyone, employed or not.

It means the employer will share information about the post with the employer ie, who and how many applied and who they have given the job too. Basically if your claiming and enquire @ the joke shop about the job then go through with the full application or you will get smacked bum!!!!0

Just not true Dezzy. The Jobcentre can (and do) follow up the progress of applications to any job that customers say they intend to apply for. In practice most employers will share information with the Jobcentre if it's asked for.
No one should be put off applying for LEP vacancies because of such misinformation.

why is this needed then? i got asked once at the jobcentre if i would like to be part of it. they said what happens is companies will share info with the jobcentre about your interview. so that must mean that is not normally done. i said no to it as i could easily give a bad impression at an interview and end up getting a sanction.0 -

why drag up an old post, in any case you have said the employer will share info about the post with the employer, unless you meant to put jcp instead of employer0 -
They add that reference to all our vacancies, it doesn't mean anything really. It's still a normal vacancy.
We signed up to LEP as employers as the Job Centre wanted us to. In practise it doesn't have any effect. I think it just means we'll continue to use the Job Centre as one of our advertising options, promise to recruit fairly, and that's about it. We've only once had any follow-up from the Job Centre, just asking us if we'd received enough applications to keep us happy, basically.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0
