Advice about my pay

I started a new job on 8 June and get paid monthly.
However, a bunch of red-tape relating to forms going to the payroll office and such like meant I wasn't paid last month. That wasn't a problem, because I've got an interest-free overdraft which I was able to live off.
Today is pay day and thankfully I have been paid (which means the forms were obviously processed successfully!)...but less thankfully, it's only for one month. So this means I'm effectively being paid one month behind, simply because the payroll kept demanding more and more forms until the June deadline was missed. And it also means I'll be lucky to get out of my overdraft any time soon.
Where do I stand with regards to this?
Thanks in advance.

I would ask the payroll office what the situation is. Is it normal for them to keep you one month behind, some comanies do this. If not then I would ask that you are paid straight away to correct the issue.0

I'm hoping to get a chance to speak to my boss today because he should be able to carry more clout. (But I like to know where I stand before I go asking things, hence this thread!)0 -
In that case i would ask thwem to pay you for the month in June as an emergency payment via BACS immediately. It can then be put through on your August payslip and the deduction for what you have been paid taken off.
Most payroll departments wil do this for an employee if you stress the situation.0 -
Push them for the money from 8th to 30th June. You are already working one month behind - you have been paid today for the work you have done in July.
You should ask that it is paid straight into your bank at the earliest opportunity and if they say they can't then you need to go to whichever senior manager or director controls Payroll - your own departmental Manager should be able to sort this out for you.
They are withholding payment for work you have already done so you need to be firm about this - I would have expected the money to have been added into this month's pay - chances are they forgot!0 -
Thanks for the replies.
My boss doesn't appear to be in today, so it'll be Monday before I get a chance to speak with him. I'd rather make sure of a few details before I speak to the payroll office.0 -
Turns out I jumped the gun a bit here!
I came home to find a payslip had arrived in the mail, and I've been paid for 6 weeks from my start date, to the middle of this month. So it seems everything is fine.
(Well, fine apart from being given tax code "BR" for whatever reason. But that's sorted now as well...)0
