College, JSA and a big sticky mess

Hi.
I have been on New Deal since May and I decided just after I started that I was going to go back to college and go through to uni to become a teacher.
While I have been at the "training" centre, the tutors have been supportive of me going to college and have been pushing it.
So I went and had my interview today, got a provisional place so went to see what my new deal advisor said about doing the new deal programme for the next month (as I fully intend to take up the place at colelge). I have to take "workshops" at college so thats three days off... 3 days I dont have
Now It got sticky and confusing.
I have been unemployed for over 6 months, I have to look for any type of work. Thems the rules. Fair enough I understand that but because my college course is full time and starts in a month, I cant accept full time hours for obvious reasons.
So my new deal advisor is going to ask her boss if I can be excluded from new deal. That way I can look for "temporary work" and get my money until I start college.
If that doesn't happen, which i'm thinking it wont, then I will have to sign off which will leave me up the creek.

you cannot do a full time course and claim jsa.
even if your 'full time' course is less than 16 hrs perweek.
i am going to do an access course in sept, the full time course is 13 hrs pw, but because its called full time i cant claim jsa. so thats why im doing the same course over two yrs, which is a pain but at lease i can claim jsa and look for a job.0 -
No I know that. Mine is an access course as I'm aiming to do teaching. What I'm getting at is that even though I don't start till september, I will have to sign off which leaves me with no money until I can apply for ALG.
All thanks to a stupid system that doesnt work0 -
Full time is days / nights of about 40pw. Part time is less hours pw.
Then you have temporary or permanent.
Surely ft temp is OK for the month? :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0 -

Alternatively you tell anyone offering you a f/t job "Great, but I'll be going to college in a month, will I be able to go p/t then?"
And see what happens.
Of course chances are you won't BE offered a job, so this won't arise.
Are you signed on with agencies?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

You may have asked at the right time. 'Old' New Deal is currently being run down, ready for the full introduction of Flexible New Deal in October. Therefore, you may find that the supervisor is ok about the idea.Fokking Fokk!0
