Help needed regarding TomTom One

Hi i have a TomTom One version 7.166 which i bought over a year ago, i use often and for approx the last 6 weeks its taken at least 5 mins to get a signal, it just has a message saying waiting for valid GPS signal, seeing as its not happened before and now happens every time i use i am worried there is something wrong, i dont have a guarantee with it. It does seem to sort its self out after approx 5- 10 mins and numerous readding the address when on the move ( my son does this while im driving) i am going on a 190 mile journey tomorrow alone and i am worried about the sat nav, does anyone have any idea's what the problem might be????

Ive also had this with my Tom Tom try letting it find a signal before driving off I now turn mine on while loading stuff into the car to give it a couple of minutes searching before moving off and confusing it. It certainly finds the signal much quicker when stationary.

Edit: Might also be worth doing an advance plan and writing down the route before you leave home as well if you are really nervous.

When did you last hook it up to your PC and do a software update?

I last hooked it up a few weeks ago to do a software update and to be honest its since then that the problems have started..i am doing another one now to see if that helps, i have also fully charged it today on pc hoping that helps too. I have written out directions for the journey but will also give it more time to grab signal before i drive off thanks
