Retraining As A Mortgage Advisor

Hi Guys. I'm currently in the position of being out of work, but having plenty of management experience and a degree under my belt, as a result of which virtually every prospective employer or employment agency won't touch me with a proverbial barge pole, as they say that I'm 'overqualified' or suspect that I won't stick with them. Naturally, it's incredibly dispiriting. One option that I'm considering, given my background, is to retrain as a mortgage advisor, but I'm very aware that the housing market isn't exactly setting the world on fire right now. Can any mortgage advisors give me some guidance as to whether it's worth retraining right now? Is the market just too flat to make it worthwhile?
Thanks in advance....

An acquaintance is a mortgage advisor and I know she is VERY quiet at the moment. How long would it take you to retrain? Perhaps the market will have improved by then...but that is a bit of a gamble.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do."I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." Thanks. Given my legal and property background, I doubt that it would take me more than a few months to pass the exams, even if I take the materials at a fairly leisurely rate. I've also heard a few things about lenders increasingly cutting out brokers altogether, so hearing about the experiences of others is useful.0
