I'd recommend you read this before you sort out your insurance, then use a comparison site.

Paulo,
both my wife and myself have PEMC.
Mine is a minor hiatus hernia, hers is a bit more serious
We arranged a multi-trip annual policy with PEMC with ColumbusDirect. This was for the USA as well as we were going to Vegas
Cost £86!!0 -
Hi Bill
Thanks for the reply
I have looked at Columbus and filled out the PEMC questionaire.
It accepts the condition and all looks well.
Many Thanks0 -
As insurance is all about risk I suppose that Churchill are "cherry picking" and only choosing customers who are very low risk. That way they can boast they have very low premiums.
I feel the same way. I will be 66 next January and suddenly, for no reason, my travel insurance becomes much more expensive. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Tristona I recommend to my clients that are approaching 66 that they take out a new annual policy just before they turn 66, they then post pone the price increases for a year. This might be worth trying for you0

I have about 4 exisiting conditions and for the last couple of years I have used Cover my Travels. They have stopped doing travel insurance but you can still get the policy that they offered through these people....(at bottom of the page, freephone number)

Give them a whirl.....
MSE has very good threads on this matter in insurance and have helped me and my mum out in the past, high blood pressure being one of her conditions.....
A lot of the more common insurers won't go near anyone with pre exisiting conditions...0 -
I got very reasonable travel insurance from Marks & Spencers for my 82 year old mother with an existing condition (high blood pressure). For that age they will not provide annual cover though. It worked out at about £80 for 10 days, much cheaper than SAGA.0

I also found my travel insurance increased dramatically at the turn of 65 and eventually found the cheapest way of getting covered was to upgrade my bank account to one that gave travel insurance. Now I pay £12 per month which includes annual travel insurance for my wife and I, and several other benefits.
I had to declare diabetes and glaucoma as a pre-existing condition.
This was cheaper than any other quote I got for the insurance alone through the usual channels.0
