Vauxhall Signum Diesel Injector pump failure - advice please

Hello,

I am looking for some advice.

In August 08 I brought a 05 plate Vauxhall Signum with 30k on the clock. It now has 57k on the clock and has been serviced by a Vauxhall Dealer regularly as required.

During July the diesel injector pump failed and had to be replaced for the total cost of £2700. I have contacted Vauxhall (not so) customer care who state they are unable to offer any assistance with the cost as it is out of the 3 year/60k warrenty.

I find this very hard to swallow that they are not prepared to offer a gesture of good will as the car has done less that 60k.

Can anybody advise me if there is anything or body I can complain to further as I feel that a component such as this should last longer than 57k!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Not many components last longer than that to be honest. Specially on these newer deisels which are turning out to be a money pit.

To the point where i'm slowly giving up buying diesel cars and stocking petrol ones!

    Hi there,

My hubby works for a Vauxhall dealer as a service manager so I've just shown him this thread. He said to let you know that: Vauxhall have recently released a warranty policy tool which covers certain items up to 5 years/100K miles (although this is not widely known yet). However, this does depend on customer loyalty, service history and the operation number of the repair. You would need to go see your local Vauxhall dealer and get them to enter your details and the operation number for the repair of your vehicle to see if it is eligable.

The operation number is the code for the repair which every Vauxhall dealer times/prices their jobs by. This should start with a 'J' as it falls into their engine group.

If you want to PM me some details of the vehicle, hubby will quite happily check for you and let you know or go to your local dealership and ask about the 'policy guide tool'

Hope this is of some use to you

Did they give you the old pump back?
  • out of interest does this problem effect the vectra, zafira and astra cdti 120/150 engines?

Bear in mind if a diesel engine has been mis-fueled in a past life, that can damage a injector pump

No they did not give me the old put as they would probably say I did not ask for it!

Apart from the cost the other annoying thing is that it is the 3.0l Diesel Isuzu engine which I thought would be a lotmore robust than most Diesel engines?
