Wallpaper Background keeps dissapearing

i use photos from my pictures for the wallpaper background, but it now keeps reverting to solid colour---which will change if i change "Background colour", but will not show the chosen Pic. Tried changing to different "library themes" and i can usually get it to change, then back to my own pic, which works temporaraly, but when the computer is re-started, its gone again! Thanks PS i have "Googled" and tried that, but nothing appears to work.

Scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as instructed in Post 2 here

Thanks, udated & ran Malware(i run it weekly), but no threats were found.
Im using XP. Ive also run Spybot, and removed anything found (it always finds something) but no difference.

How are you setting the desktop background (to the picture)?

I go to "My Pictures", then right click the preferred pic then "set as background" its been fine for years. PS ive also run Windows defender, and CC cleaner

Is this better than simply right clicking the pic?
