Maybe worth buying if you fancy a hard disk drive dvd recorder with built in freeview. They are refurbished but come with a 3 month warranty.

Hopefully they are better than the 80gb versions, we have had 3 of those models, all developed faults within the first year.

    What does "refurbished" mean?

(I think it means they ran a damp cloth over the front panel and stuck the item in a box.)

And the 3 month warranty shows how confident they are of the product.

It is standard practice to offer 3 months warranty on refurb gear

Well, I'm not sure I would buy with a 3-month warranty, eg. from the Dell outlet site: "All Dell Outlet systems are sold with the same standard limited warranties as we do on our new systems".

WHARFEDALE NOW OUT OF STOCK AT BOFFER.

Buy the Techwood one from Morrisons for £60, was advertised in the papers yesterday, its got 250gb hard drive and obviously comes with a full warranty, no brainer really, hard drive alone is worth £30. Nearest price for something similar i've seen is one in Tesco for apx £88.

Yes your quite right the Techwood one at Morrisons is a hard drive only, no DVD recording. I've got a Panasonic freeview DVD recorder but hardly ever use it to be honest now i have a hard-drive recorder.

Hi is the Techwood one good? Is there a code/model number for it so I could check reviews as if my Panasonic dvd recorder cant be fixed Id need to buy a new recorder and a harddrive one would be fine for me.

Cant get to Morrisons until the weekend or end of the week but can send my Dad if any good!

    Thanks

Its the Techwood 1020, Cant see you will be that impressed going from a Panasonic to a Techwood though and I think most Morrisons have sold out already, maybe saving up for a Humax may be a better option?

I believe this is a badged model the same as the following: Currently known variations of this model include (alphabetical order): Bush TU160DTR, TU250DTR, TU320DTR and TU500DTR (Argos) · Digihome DG250DTRA08 (Tesco) · Luxor TUTV2500 (Comet) · Sharp TUTV162H and TUTV252H · Wharfedale Top Up TV Digital TV Recorder in 160, 250, 320 and 500Gb versions (Argos)

Its a Techwood 1020. If you want one i'd get it today, they only had 5 in my local store on the shelf, you can always take it back if you don't like the reviews. If you're willing to spend more go for a Humax, but for £60 i think its worth a go.
It does seem with freeview boxes that its a bit hit and miss with regard to reliability/software glitches..
