Couples' car insurance for second car.Advice please?
MY DH and I currently own an 03 plate 1.8 Mondeo, I am the owner and have the insurance for it with hubby as named driver, as I have been driving for 14 years to his 2. Currently do around 6K mileage.
We are about to buy a second car - a Y reg Yaris 1.0 which will probably do about 4K a year and the first car's mileage will drop to around the same.
Hubby is 40 I'm 39.
Can someone advise us where the best place to get insurance for both cars is - is there a policy that lets both people drive both cars, as it will be whoever is out first in the morning that will take whatever car is available, I'm not going to start car-shuffling in dressing gowns like the neighbours do.
Separately the policies will cost around £240 each, but since we don't yet know who will drive what car most, how can we have a named driver for each car?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, obviously the prices I'm quoting are based on DH being named as driver of .0 car, and myself for the 1.8

Who starts work first and who is home last? When you both get home, who's likely to go back out? Who'll do the most mileage?
And if it works out 50/50, just pick a car each.
Admiral multicar has been cheapest for us 2 years running (yes, we shopped around). £450 for 55 plate Mondeo Ghia-x tdci and an 02 plate Chrysler Voyager 2.5 crd Limited. Business use on the voyager.
We're 35 and 32, both cars no excess other than standard, fully comp, both for 10 k miles per year.0 -
Thanks - DH works shifts and I taxi DD to activities some nights, and do classes myself a couple of nights a week, so it really is a mish-mash.
I'll try Admiral though, thank you.:TMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

If you both have no-claims bonus, it makes sense to just insure one each, with the other as a named driver, that way you are both keeping your no-claims active. Just shop around for the best deal on each car individually. (Admiral were no where near the cheapest for me with the multi-car, although I did find them very competitive the single car policy).“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

And check out cashback sites. You would be able to get 2 lots of cashback which may be far more than any discounts offered by companies for insuring two cars with them through the same policy.0

I personally would be wary of Admiral. My partner had a MultiCar policy with them. He had both of his cars insured under one NCB so it was relatively cheap. The service he received from them was pretty bad (they took money out of his account without his consent, getting him into trouble with the bank; that wasn't the only thing they did) and in the end he got fed up and left them.
He went back to his previous insurer (MoreThan), asked them to match Admiral's terms and they did so without question.0
