Blockbuster scratched dvds

Hi,
Any idea's on what to do? I joined the local blockbuster store and 3 times I have gone for the 3 DVDs for £5 where you can keep them for a week. Every time at least one of the dvds has been scratched, and usually near the end so I have ended up watching over an hour of a film only to be unable to see the end. Fair enough, when i go back and tell them i get a £2.75 credit but it's really frustrating.

Am I unlucky or is blockbusters really this bad? should I just stop using BB or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Well you do have the options either you dont bother using Blockbuster again or you do - stating the obvious! However I know it must be frustrating but if you look at it from the point of view that you got more than half the money paid for 3 DVDs rental back as a result of only one being faulty - not really that bad money wise - its just frustrating!

I'd have thought, on the law of averages, that your run of bad luck with them will stop around now.

So you complain that one of the 3 DVDs is scratched, and then you get a 2.75 credit.

Which is more than HALF of what you paid, and you still got to watch 2 films. Is this a complaint or are you telling us how to scam Blockbusters?

I bought 4 DVD's for 20 pounds in Blockbuster recently and one was scratched as well. I couldn't see scratches but the movie tripped at a few points.
Hope it's only this one because I didn't have a look at the three other ones yet.

although it can be considered a way of ripping of blockbusters, it's really annoying to realise i've wasted my time watching most of a film only to miss the ending. Suppose it's just an annoyance and i always have the option of going elsewhere!

Ive done this many times, and 9 times out of 10 it works.. You should wash the disk in warm soapy water, and pat dry with a tea towel... Confused.. . er me too but It definately works, and doesnt damage the DVD...

I buy loads of dvd's from them and only had 5-6 problems so far. On those times, I've returned with my receipt and they've exchanged it for me. That way I don't get know as a serial returner. Plus I'm not taking the mickey - just trying to get what I paid for.

Well seeing as you're renting DVD's from BlockBusters you can't really blame them. I doubt they watch every DVD once it's been returned to make sure the person who borrowed it before you didn't scratch it.
Sounds like you've just been unlucky and have the same taste in films as somebody who can't look after somebody elses property
