Backpacker travel insurance for more than a year?

Hello,
I'm going to China to teach English in Jan 2010. I'll be teaching for a year, and then I hope to travel for a few weeks / few months after that (depends on money). The thing is, I can't find insurance cover for more than a year.
Does anyone know any insurance companies that do this? Or will I have to renew my insurance while out in China (can I even do this...?)?
