does anyone have any idea where i could find a childs grey herringbone trilby hat?

    Try Claire's Accessories, they've usualy got loads.

    Failing that, your local joke shop or fancy dress shop should sell them.

    If the hats are a little too big for your child's head, you can attatch a strip of foam to the circumferance of the inside of the hat to pad it out a little.
