National Express East Coast
I saw recently that the government wishes to re-nationalise this route and bring it back into state ownership as NatEx cannot afford to keep up the premium payments, they are complaining that they are not raising enough revenue, well based on my last few journey's with them, i can see why.
I regularly do the commute between east anglia (where I work) and my GF's house in Scotland, i used to fly up with either Ryanair or Easyjet but after several bad experiences I have gone across to the rail network instead, I always travel first class but I am not a snob or a member of the upper class (covered in piercings and tattoo's and multi-coloured hair) but I work hard and choose to pay more to travel, but recently i have been looked down on by NatEx staff onboard the trains (and just to note this is by the London to Newcastle portion of staff, the Newcastle northwards staff are brilliant and very very polite). they never have sandwiches available and i'm often made to feel like a second class citizen because of how I look/dress. Even to the point i've had one conductor ask me to move back to standard accomodation before I'd shown him my ticket. Now bearing in mind that a walk up fare on day of travel for me is £180 each way I don't feel that I am flying off the handle, i just want to be made to feel like a first class passenger, and then maybe others will use the service too.
