Cetergy Letter...bounced cheque from about 3 yrs ago
Hello All
I had a cheque bounce about 3yrs ago with a cheque cashing company that was satisfied as soon as my wages went in...I checked this with the company at the time but I am still getting the odd letter every six months or so for an original £50 charge which they now reckon is £290...the debt was satisfied with the cheque cashing company so can someone shed some light on why these people are still saying ive got 72 hours to pay three years later//?? also should I pay it

Do you have proof you paid? If so send a copy of that to them.0

I dont, its so long ago! and Im not sure what they are trying to charge me for in the first place! the fact that a cheque bounced 3 years ago and they are owed a fee? just dont get it or them!0

the £50 is probably their charge for you bouncing a cheque on them. Over the 3 years, it's more than like accumulated interest at their own (probably horrendously high) APR.
Did you include the £50 charge in your final settlement payment? If so, request a copy statement if you don't have one from your bank and send the company a copy showing the original loan amount plus the £50 charge on the statement."Stay Wonky":D

Write back and say you have no idea what they are referring to, but if they provide eveidence that you owe them anything you will consider the matter further. Don't admit to anything and see what they say.
Some companies use certegy for cheque clearance. If it bounced once it would be referred to them. You presumably cleared the cheque second time around, but these chancers will try to get a fee out of you. A bit like baliffs fees extremely hard for them to pursue in court.
Some would say ignore as any reply confirms you live at that address and they could just be fishing.
I think I would ignore first letter and if they write again reply to that and ask for proof from them then.
