Seen the latest Aviva ad for car insurance ?

"Pay less than £212 for your car insurance*"

the * then states that 10% of aviva policyholders pays £212 or less for their car insurance.

Meaning a whopping 90% pay more !! And knowing Aviva it's a damn site more !!:rotfl:

The comparison sites that advertise that such and such percentage of customers saved £190 or more amuse me. What people do not realise is that what normally happens is when people get to the question that asks how much they are currently paying most people grossly reduce the amount in the hope it reduces the premium they are quoted. Then hey presto it appears that a high percentage of customers saved £190 or more.

When I used to work for a direct insurer, I had a customer moaning down the phone that he'd received a letter stating "Save £xxx*". He was moaning that he hadn't saved any money as we were more expensive.

I had great pleasure in referring him to the small print, which stated something along the lines of "10% of customers saved more than £xxx, from a sample of xxxx customers".

He then wanted to complain to the marketing department. You just can't please some people - its a marketing ploy, don't take everything literally!
