Travel Companies and flights - question please

Can someone tell me how it all works in simple terms.
I have been looking at all companies ie expedia, travelbag, opodo, sta, trailfinders etc for open jaw flights for this summer. (Edi - Beijing and Bangkok - Edi)
They all seem to say that it is the cheapest fare that they can find, but some are coming in at £900 and others at £600.
I like booking with Trailfinders, but they are quite expensive and even when I have said 'what about KLM flights ?' (knowing that they are cheaper), they say there is no availibility, even when I know there is.
In the past I got great deals with student flights, but they are the ones coming in at £900 and 'that's the best we can do attitude'.
Do certain airlines only sell a certain amount of seats to certain companies ? And do certain companies only have the availibility to certain airlines ?
Any explanation or a point in the right direction would be appreciated.

It may be that there's not many airlines flying to both Beijing and Bangkok. Try Virgin Atlantic site for return fare to Beijing and then get cheaper return flight to Bangkok?? Otherwise try British Airways own site and also dialaflight.com.0

It can all be down to fare availablity you can check that here http://www.flyaow.com/classual.htm for instance if you want you go lets say the 12 August but only 2 seats left price will be higher (you probably already know that) try your route on the above by altering it one day at a time to see the amount of seats in each class. the more class's avalibale the cheaper the flight.
Have you tried AMS to PEK with KLM sometimes going from the airlines home airport can save a forune. The more flexiable the ticket thte more you payIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
Some companies buy allocations, seats on flights, rooms in hotels, what they mean is they've sold their allocation, just look elsewhere for a better deal, somebody else may have some of their allocation available.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
