new eBay account wants to phone me - I don't have a home phone!

Any other way around this if i don't have a phone or a credit card? I spent ages setting up paypal and filling online forms just to be told that right at the end - any info?

Thanks.

Yes, it says "eBay will not phone a mobile number" when i do. Then it says "enter your landline number" and gives 2 options "Phone me now" or "phone me in 2 minutes"

You can't sell on eBay without a land line, officially. I don't have one however, and I sell on eBay. Write them an email and tell them that it will not accept your landline phone number (don't tell them that you don't have one), they may "skip" the step.

Or use sipgate.co.uk i use that. The number looks like a standard 01/02 number and it has voicemail as well as I's not always online....

Skype to go number is pretty useful and you can divert it to a mobile

i assume the reason they dont accept mobiles is because its part of the verification process, they want a phone number so they can "locate" you and prove you live at the address you state.

for that reason im not sure how skype numbers and such could be used as that could be used by anyone trying to fake their details, the same way if you asked a neighbour/friend/relative to use their number.

Exactly, well i just tried using direct debit but one i had filled the form in with my bank details it said this is your direct debit instruction details, then it said continue and went to credit card information - will eBay accept direct debit just from my current account? i did not enter credit card details i switched the screen off after the information on the direct debit instruction, hope they get back to me.

Although you're not meant to you can ask your friend if you can borrow their landline just for two seconds because all that happens is ebay rings and says a code which you have to enter.
