Friend of mine asked me to have a look at they computer as their mouse was freezing and not letting them go onto computer. Went through safe mode but because mouse nor keyboard weren't working couldn't do a thing. Then decided to try mouse with Ps2 connection and it worked a treat. However as don't have administrator access and friend can't remember password i am unable to do too much. Went into device manager and saw that no drivers are loaded for CCID interface and as no administrator rights cannot lad drivers for mouse or keyboard but can't find out too much info about what kind of drivers are required per pc for CCID interface. Can anyone help or am i barking up the wrong tree with regards to USB connections not working.
Thanks in advance to whizzkid that helps.

cheqmate06 go into the bios, usually F2 when booting the computer, and make sure integrated peripherals / onboard devices / USB is enabled aka usb mouse and keyboard.0

CCID is a red herring, it's a standard for USB smart card interfaces.
Whilst USB keyboards and mice require appropriate drivers, missing drivers will render the device completely unusable. To solve the problem with safe mode enables USB keyboard/mouse support in the BIOS, it's often called "Legacy USB support".0
