• Why are you getting it?

Tbh I dont think it will be of much benefit. Far better off looking at something like ACCA or CIMA
  • i wanted to get into corporate finance

i have been told i can do the AAT/ACCA/ACA and then do corparate finance certficate afterwards

or i can go down the degree route and then do the corporate finance qualfication

what job do you want to do with your corporate finance qualification. I'd recommend CIMA, ACCA or something actuarial for most job roles in finance. It might be a good qualification but employers can be very picky about what quals are suitable and I wouldnt want you to waste your money on something that isnt highly rated.

I am hearing debates about whether ACA or ACCA is better though, i am a bit confused now, lol

  • Employers when recruiting for finance jobs were a qualification is essential normally state CCAB qualified. This is;

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS)
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI)
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
    • The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA)
Obviously your qualification isnt on there so your extremely limited your prospects in doing it and not one of the above - which most llikely cover the topic anyway.

  • Tbh I think you would be wasting your time for a finance controller or like position.

The ACA would be enough. The corporate finance certificate is unlikely to be of much interest above the ACA.
  • what are the best jobs to aim for with the accountant qualification??

I want to do accounting because i am good wth numbers and i think i have the qualites for that type of role

  • With an accounting qualification you could do pretty much any role you want exceptions being those that need specific skills - medicine etc.

What to bear in mind is most accountants unless a small business wont be working with numbers most days. They will have staff to do that. They instead will be managing staff and dealing with policies and review of lower level workers.

In a smaller business you may be more hands on but the rewards will likely be lesser.

A financial controller type job is a good aim for a qualified accountant with a few years post qualifying experience looking to be a head of or director level within 10 years after which it all depends on the persons drive.

Assistant jobs etc which are more hands on are normally for PQ or trainees and very early post qualifying experience.
  • Thanks for that, i really appreciate you giving me that information
