car insurance

in march i had a accident, it was my fault as i hit someone from behind, it was one of the council vans, after checking the van out they said no damage was done and no claim was made.

but now i have got a letter that the councils van driver, had made a pi claim.
is there anything i can do?
so far i have done nothing, just ignored it hoping it wil go away.
will my premiums go up next renewel?

any help will be apprceiated

    Ignoring it is the worst thing to do! They will follow up with legal action.

    Pass the letter (unanswered) on to your insurer (in March) to deal with. If you have not done so already, inform them about the incident, and if you have changed insurer since the incident, inform your current insurer.

    If you have unprotected NCD, and this claim is met by your insurer, then the NCD level will drop back two years, meaning an increase in premium at renewal. (If you have renewed since March, then your current premium will go up).

    Yes, and as soon as possible, they have a tight timescale to respond to the letter of claim you have received. Breaches of that timescale can harm the chances of a best case outcome for yourself.
