help my chin and mouth are numb! toothsmith??!

Hiya guys!

i need some advice, monday night i was getting into the bath and noticed that in my mouth, under my tongue was numb and tingly.

i woke up tuesday morning (yesterday) and noticed that the numbness and tingling was still there and it had also spread to the bottom half of my tongue, my bottom lip and my entire chin.

the feeling is like when you have an injection for a filling. numb and doesnt feel normal!

woke up this morning and the feeling had gone away Yippee! however the past hour its come back and it feels like its starting to spread up the right side of my chin.

i went to see my doc last night and she didnt have a clue, told me it was a virus! she said i had a temp but when i got home and checked my temp it was fine.

can anyone help me cos im a little worried! toothsmith if your out there?!:T

i go to the dentist frequently and i have all of my wisdom teeth coming through (im 23) and its only the bottom 2 that have partially erupted they caused me quite a bit of pain a year ago. but nothing since.

thankyou all for reading!

You're not allowed to ask for medical advice on this forum I'm afraid.

And the only advice anybody is allowed to give you is... see your GP, or ring NHS Direct. I know you've already been to the doc but we still can't give you any unqualified medical advice.

    Sorry!

There are many things this could be. Vast majority aren't too serious, but one or two could be.

Doctors are usually rubbish at things around the mouth, but even knowing this, I'm still staggered at just how rubbish your doc's advice was!

Get to your dentist ASAP - like this afternoon if poss. (It's easier to check if the problem is still there)
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
