Not sure where to put this - neighbour issue

my neighbours (directly accross from me) run a business from home and Im fed up to the back teeth of their work trucks coming and going all day long. 10 mins ago I had 4 trucks parked so that i couldnt get in my drive. i went and asked them to move one of them and they did, but this is the 5th time in the past couple of weeks that I've had to ask them to move one of their trucks. Its not just me that has to ask, my next door neighbour also has to ask them to move on a regular basis and she is as fed up as I am.
I suppose what I'm looking for is advice to point me in a direction that I can use to ask them to restrict the number of trucks they have at the house at any one time.
Thanks

Hi, try the neighbours from hell forum (google it) for specific advice.
But sounds to me like you need to talk to the council about whether they have permission to be running a business, and are paying rates.0 -
Also check your house deeds - some specify that you can't run a business from the house, which would give you a leg to stand on...
EDIT: this assumes that the same terms would be in their house deeds, of course!0 -
Call your council - start with the Planning Dept as they are usually always very helpful.
Do they own or rent the house - if rented do you know the LL or LA to lodge a complaint.
Ring the police and the local bobby can be very helpful.

thanks, am going to give the council a call tomorrow and see if i can find out any information without making it official as i dont want to cause them any hassle. i just want to have the information to hand so that if the issue carries on then i have something to fall back on.Debt free 3 years early :j

They won't have permission for working from home if it means disturbing the neighbours. They are.0

we have it written into our deeds we can run a fishmongers or a butchers shop as long as its worth more than £200.....
If yours and your neighbours house were built at the same time they may well be something in your deeds stopping them from running a business.
Also because we have a leasehold house, the landlord states we are offered quiet enjoyment of our house.....dont know if it might be a similar story for you?
Or get a clamp... a big one and clamp the trucks that park over your drive... they wont park there again!0 -
they arent physically parking over my drive. its the way they park the trucks on the road opposite my drive that is causing me problems. they dont attempt to park on the pavement and just park on the road so that there is room for one car to get by rather than two. if i had a really small car i could get in and out with no problem, but im a new driver as well so need that bit extra space to manouver the beast in and out.
I rent at the moment so not sure about the quiet enjoyment of the property as its outwith the LL's control.
I think that I will go and speak to them about it before going to the council as it will give them a chance to sort it properly as it has only become an issue for me in the past few weeks now that i have use of the car and am home during the day. if i worked then it wouldnt be an issue as i wouldnt be home during the day.
Thanks everyone, will let you know what they say tomorrow.Debt free 3 years early :j

If you're going to ring the council don't alert them to the fact it's you who's complaining. Let them guess at that.
From a residential street you can not have lots of vans turning up throughout the day for a business.0 -

I often find the council will not talk in detail unless you divulge your interests. I also find they do treat your call as confidential.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. Exactly what sort of business are they running?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
