ok first off i appologise if there is a thread about this else were, but as i'm hopeless with stuff like this i could not find it ( if this is on the forums else were and someone want to point me in the right direction then that would be helpful
Ok i'm on one of bt's payment plan options and currently am in credit with them after one month of my billing cycle. By my maths i'll be £100+ in credit with them by the end of my billing cycle but i've been told by BT that i can not claim this back until AFTER they bill me for my new line rental and broadband for thye next 3 month block. When i called them up to check this they said they would reduse my line rental charges ect but they still wont refund me the money my account is in credit. I'm obviously not happy about this and was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to get the monet im in credit with them back?
Thanks

Hello donbonjovi,
I may be able to refund back some of the credit, do you want to PM me your account details and I'll take a look?
All the best,

Hi donbonjovi,
After being promised a refund from the 23rd June till today (have the emails to prove it and the name of the customer service rep) the only way I could actually get my money back was by invoking direct debit indemnity and calling my bank directly. Every other utility provider will refund credit upon request, why not British Telecom?
There must be many tens of thousands of customers in the same boat, even have colleagues in work who's direct debits have doubled because one month, they made a few pounds worth of extra calls. It's a scam, they're not looking after your interests they're profiteering illegally by witholding your money, it's almost like short term theft when it's quite clear you're overpaying dramatically.
There was another BT rep who offered to help me on here, but as yet I've had no reply to the PM I sent a week ago, maybe they're on holiday paid for by the interest on the millions of pounds BT are currently refusing to pay back to their customers, who knows.
Forget dealing with these people, phone your bank and ask for your money back.
I am angry and frustrated once again, thank you British Telecom!
Otelo, here I come...

I'm actually still waiting to receive the cheque that BT said they were going to send out a month ago after we moved out and closed our account. It's completely ridiculous that after saying we are moving house and want to close our accounts, they not only didn't close our broadband talk account at the same time, but then tried to make out as if I didn't want it closed. What use could it possibly be to me to hang onto it when we aren't even with BT for internet anymore? It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0

Would make it all easier if you all opened your own thread's. That way at least the BT rep can keep up.0

My bank has now refunded me the amount BT refused to do as part of the direct debit guarantee, stick that up your Terms and Conditions British Telecom!0

I know this won't help those awaiting refunds, but I emailed BT on the 9th July using the CS link on the online account section as I had £42.65 of credit that had been sitting there for a few months. I got an email back on the 10th apologising for the delay in replying(!) to say that my refund would be sent to my bank account that day. It arrived as promised and cleared 3 days later.
Excellent service IMHO!!0 -
Hi Wickedkitten,
I will be able to chase this up for you. Drop me a PM with your account details and I will get on the case.
Cheers

i have been talking and live chatting with bt about my may bill which was twice the norm. all i keep getting is that the billing date has been charged and i have been billed accordingly. well that doesnt mean anything to me, i usually pay £16 per month give or take then in may my bill was £33.25 and in june £22. but its the may bill i have issues with.
everyone seems to have a text book answer almost down to the same words. but i CANNOT understand the bill or the reason why i was charged twice the norm. and simply being told its a change in their system and everything has now gone back to normal really isnt helping. i still feel i am out of pocket by £18.
so, have you checked your bills lately? have you been overcharged for the sake of the change in bt billing dates? how can i get a simple explantation?0
