Mortgage Payment Protection... price increase

Hi all.
This is my first post to the forums, so please excuse any mistakes I have made. Anways.. down to business.
I have recently had my Mortage Protection Payment Insurance increased from £18.99 to £51.00.. I looked at other policies but the ones I have applied for have all turned me down.
I am a Technical Architect (Computer systems and not houses) and have been in the same job for the last 9 years..
Does anyone have any ideas of the best way of getting a decent insurance policy a tad cheaper than the £51 per month?
Any advice would be most appreciated.
Cheers
Duncan

arguably MPPI plans aren't very 'decent' at the best of times and are often inferior to proper income protection (also known as PHI) which comes with optional unemployment cover (talk to an IFA)
talking of unemployment cover - thats probably the reason for the increase, a number of providers have changed their pricing based upon occupation in light of the current economic situation
speak to an IFA or shop around - but read the smallprint!0 -
