I'm due to do a live transfer and sign on tomorrow morning at Sheffield job centre but I've just been told that the local buses aren't running, It's all on strike.
I cannot afford a taxi to Sheffield nor have I got anyone who can take me there.
I've recently moved so money is very tight and I'm overdrawn as it is.
Will it be acceptable to phone up tomorrow morning and explain or will it be classed as a no show on my behalf?

I'd say you don't have much option, I doubt they will be sympathetic but I don't they will cancel your claim. Though don't be surprised if they delay the payment by a day. If this was a planned strike I expect they will know about it.0

Only First buses are on strike, Stagecoach buses and Supertram are both running. Are either of those an option?#145 Save £12k in 2016 Challenge: £12,062.62/£12,000.00 Beginning Balance: £5,027.78 CHALLENGE MET

do you have 2 legs ........ perhaps you could use themReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -
Thanks for the useful comments.
I've been told about the super-trams and I didn't know about the other buses so I'm going to go check their sites now. Thanks.
As for the sarcastic answer, There is really no need for it. I'm asking for advice that's all. I've been here for 3 days and I don't know the area well at all. IF that was an option I wouldn't of posted on here for advice.
*Edit
I've just checked the stage coach bus site and there is none from my village, I think I'll have to call first thing tomorrow morning to see what they say.0 -
Been there for 3 days but made sure you got your job seekers appointment. funny that.
I agree with the sarcastic answer. Walk you lazy !!!!.0 -

what an arrogant comment.
How can you say that without knowing the persons circumstances? Mabe its a 20 mile walk, mabe they have a small child, mabe they have a disability that prevents them standing for long periods.0 -
Facts are irrelevant! None of that matters to the !!!!!! at the MSE forums! You're unemployed and therefore a piece of !!!! to be kicked around at their amusement! Just ignore them.0

your unemployed so therefore have nothing better to do with your time.
Set off early and walk - it will beat sitting on your !!!! wathcing Jeremy kyle all day.
And what if the OP can't walk? What if (s)he has an injury or a disability? What if it's simply too far? I can't speak for the Sheffield area, but I live in a village and it's 3 miles to the local bustop with no 'walking' route (It's just a main road with no footpath) and 8 miles to the job centre! Sometimes, even if you've got all the time in the world, walking is not an option.:j [STRIKE]Debt Free[/STRIKE] Savings Wannabe! :jCurrent problems: £107 overdrawn in bank, £112 in unpaid DD'sSavings made: £00 -
Some of the replies on here are soooo ignorant, but then what do you expect from someone who ambulance chases for a living. Artemis, shouldn't you be working rather than haranguing genuine advice seekers on an internet forum? Then maybe you won't find yourself in the same unfortunate position.
Sheffield has a lot of satellite villages and it's not a case of simply walking in to Sheffield from them. When I stayed with my friends in Sheffield it was a forty minute bus ride from their village to the town centre, that equates to hours of walking, it would have been a three to four hour walk, what if the appointment is at 9am. Is JSA to become so demoralising to job seekers that they are expected to wake up at 4am for half a days walking for £60? Would you do it?I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -
As someone who challenges people on the forum (that gets mis-read as being rude) even I am shocked at a few of the comments here.
OP, try this
http://www.transportdirect.info/
with your home postcode and the postcode / station of the JC and see if it offers any help.
You also missed an appointment on the 12/6, have your random collapsing eased?
