Hi, i took out insurance with swift cover as they were the cheapest....i have now sold my car therefore have tried to cancel but they want a whopping £160 as per their cancellation scale on their terms and conditions (which i stupidly never read)....they are now threatening legal action although i cancelled way back in june they have just contacted me...do i have to pay this fee or is there any way i can refuse.....thoughts much appreciated.....julie

If you owe (which you seem to agree you do), then you have no grounds to refuse.
If they take legal action they will win with long term consequences for your credit record.0 -
Are you getting a new car? If so, you can transfer the insurance to the new car. Cheaper than cancelling.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
