Hi All,
I am taking my 3 kids on our first camping trip with some friends in August and am in need of some advice please.
I dont want to spend a fortune but also want something that wont fall apart after one use. Are there any campers amongst you who are able to advise me on either a tent or budget etc???
Thanks in advance,
Allison.

Hi Kiwichick
The best site to check out tents & camping gear is http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk
There is a tent review bit, but take a look at the forums http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/display_forum_topics.asp?ForumID=3 as there is lots of great advice there.
Be careful, it's nearly as addictive as this site!

Hiya,
Thanks for your replies. I've had a look online and found the following 2 which I am considering.
What do you think of them??

Argos do this one.

Seems a good deal and the reviews look ok.
You also get sleeping bags and airbeds.0 -

It only has a hydrostatic head of 1200. I personally would not consider a tent with less than 2000.:cool:keep smiling,

Marmot Halo 6 person if your budget can stretch to it, about £3000

Hi Kwikchick, personally I wouldn't buy ANY tents mentioned so far on this thread. Tents from Argos are cr4p, and the 2 tents you linked to are that wierd shape that not only is difficult to windproof but might have trouble fitting on 1 pitch due to shape. Personally I'd go for a Vango 600, check it out on the website Winky mentioned. They know their stuff on there regarding tents.
Don't forget cooking, sleeping and entertainment costsPants0 -
Move away slowly from the Argos tent! Its a real false economy and whilst probably ok for a couple of nights in mid summer it might put you off camping for life!
If pushed, I'd go for the Coleman, its got better reviews and I prefer the layout. If there are the four of you, then its 2 in each pod, and quite comfortable, rather than sleeping like sardines!
However, I've got the Outwell Nevada L, and I love it! If it was ruined, I would go and buy another tomorrow. (Even though I have got 2 other tents!) http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/Outwell-Nevada-L/462 and as this video shows you can put it up by yourself in minutes.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wgWvSUuUKs
Any other questions give me a shout!
