Most major hire companies allow you to take their vans abroad (in EEC) at no extra cost.

I am sorry but I would have to disagree with that. A couple of years ago I tried to hire a van to collect some furniture from Germany, and I could not find a single company who would let me take a van through a channel port. The main reason given for this was that so many people try and smuggle alcohol and fags through, and then the vans get impounded - and it doesn't make any difference who owns it, it still gets impounded.

Good luck if you find anyone who will hire you one though!

there are a few that will hire but if you want a transit style van it costs more ..

will keep looking and see what is around.. might be cheaper to buy a cheap van and then sell it on return..
