My brother is getting married later this summer and I know he is paying for the rental of his best man's suit.

The Groom I suppose. The Bridesmaids get their outfit paid for, why not the Best Man?

It doesn't matter really. It is up to the groom and best man to decide for themselves surely?

traditionally the groom would pay, likewise the Brides parents normally foot the bill for the wedding,so I guess it depends on how traditional the wedding is going ?

I guess it depends on what the groom has told the bestman ?

We paid for all the hire suits (best man and fathers). Also all the bridesmaids dresses. I do know lots of people who ask the best man / bridesmaid to pay for their own though.....

When my ex OH was best man, the bride and groom chose everything he had to wear including a GOLD waistcoat costing £80 and a tie to match - and we had to pay for it ourselves!

We're paying for (nearly) everything for best men / bridesmaids.

For the best men we just ask they have smart shoes, and for best men / bridesmaids we are not paying for their hotel rooms but were not expecting them to stay over before / after.
