Not hearing back after interview!

I can understand companies, especially small companies not bothering to reply to everyone who applies for a vacancy, due to cost and time involved etc, especially if the number of applicant's is high. It's rude and soul destroying for jobhunters, but understandable. But twice recently i've been to interviews and two weeks later still not heard anything. Still waiting.
I've had 3 interviews since the middle of June, first with McDonalds, second for a position as a kitchen assistant and third as a waitress in a nice hotel.
McDonalds asked me to come in a month after i handed in application a few days later the vacancy disapeared from their website but it still says my application is being considered. I'm assuming the job has gone and i wasn't sucessful as it's been weeks now with no news.
The kitchen assistant interview came shortly after the McDonalds one - again heard nothing since.
The hotel waitress position was the most recent interview, she did say that due to there being a new manager we wouldn't hear for a few weeks and to phone in and remind them if i hadn't heard anything by then.
Beginning to feel like an invisible person or at least instantly forgetable!

Hi there
Its very frustrating isn't it?
Can you recall on any of them stating they would be in touch either way?
I think because some time have passed, although I understand you don't want to sound as if your pushing it, but a short email to ask for a general update. (that's is if they have emailing facilities).
My hubby attended an interview coming up almost 3 weeks ago this coming Thursday, they did state the need to start 14 new workers in about 3 weeks time'ish, but will be in touch either way.
However, he did get some reply last week by email, thanking him for his email and this was still ongoing, but they will be in touch in about 2 weeks time, a little later than they first stated, so will wait and see.
I seem to think it "may be a case" of no news is good news, but not too sure......
I wish you luck though, so good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Very!

All said they'd be in touch but not when specifically.

Yes i've been considering getting in touch - just want an answer either way really.

When I go for an interview I always ask "When will I hear about the outcome of this interview?" as one of my interview questions. I then give them the time they stated to get back to me, if I haven't heard for a couple of days after their specified date I ring them to find out any news.
I don't see ringing them up as being pushy I'm just following up on what they said. The worst thing about the aftermath of interviews is when employers don't advise you of the outcome - good luck with your search.Earning Swagbucks since May 2012

Why not ring some back and rather than ask' why didn't i get the job?' say that you have another few interviews coming up and would be very grateful for any feedback that they could give you so you know what isn't going so well at the interviews. Sometimes this is nothing at all just an employer with a 'spoilt for choice' scienario.
Employers are so rude a no thanks letter doesn't take much.0 -
I'm planning to get in touch on Monday, as suggested just a general query for outcome and feedback.
Dundunbanza - thanks i will make a point of asking for a specific date/time when i will hear the outcome next time i have an interview instead of "we'll be in touch soon" or similar.
Busy mom - I agree it's rude and inconsiderate, a short letter or phone call to unsucessful interviewees doesn't take much effort and feedback is always invaluable.Halifax £744 and coming down0 -
I absolutely hate it when employers do not let you know the outcome of an interview after you have generally gone out of your way to arrange an interview time to suit them. It is bad enough getting no response when you just make a speculative job enquiry with a covering letter and cv. HR departments must be very busy these days !!
A simple e mail response taking perhaps 2 minutes which the large majority of applicants have access too and would cost the employer nothing would be appreciated.0 -
Couldn't agree more. Chased up the interviews - no luck, so back to the jobhunt.Halifax £744 and coming down0

I know the feeling. I had two interviews this week and even though I know it'll be a while before I hear back, I'm jumping everytime the phone rings! It's like mental torture!0

Definately - i kept having to stop myself checking the phone for missed calls or for mail. It's agony!Halifax £744 and coming down0
