Hi everyone, am hoping to get a little bit of info if possible.
Im off sick from permanent post at present and have a sick note for next 8 weeks. I was intending to go back part time. However i have decided to try to get a different job as my present one is not working out for me.
I intend finding work as a Care assistant which is what i love doing, will hopefully go back to work after this sick note, part time if i cant find a new job, untill i do.
Anyway, what i was wondering is if anyone had any idea how much i might take home per week/month after tax, NI? I will be taking a pay cut and expect to be working 35 to 40 hrs on minimum wage or £6 p/h at most. I need to consider my budget and was hoping someone who may be on a similar wage could give me an idea.
My hubby is on JSA at present and we have a 6 month old and get basic baby element of child tax credits due to being based on our incomes last year. I assume tax credits would also go up a bit but havent looked into it as dont want to assume i'll get help.
Thankyou in advance for any help

I would always roughly deduct a quarter of your gross income to allow for deductions; this takes into account your tax-free allowance (code -which i think is 603L unless there is some reason for yours to be different).
Although chances are that a community care working job will pay minimum wage or slightly over, some employers do enhance this when you work very early, quite late and on weekends or Friday nights and you would be able to claim for mileage (also from HMRC) if you use your car. (Just thought, you might plan to be in a care home... so this community stuff might not apply.)
I don'tknow enough about tax credits to comment but sure someone cleverer than me will help you with that although the tax credits peeps themselves are very very good in my experience.0
