Mazda 323F Radio Removal

Hi

I'm trying to remove the radio from the above, it has a rattle that is annoying me.

I have googled, and I know how to remove the two side bars, but according to what I have read, it should just then pull out, but mine does not.

I thought you may have to use a removal tool to get the radio out, but from what i have read, that is not the case.

Just wondering if anybody here had taken one of these radios out.

It is a basic, factory fitted radio, without CD.

Been there, done that, now I want to do it cheaper!!

The stereo in the R-reg 323 I had developed a fault and whilst I was at the dealers I asked the mechanic what I'd need to remove it. He used a couple of tools which slid down the sides to release it.
Even though it only took seconds, I got the feeling he wasn't supposed to be doing favours for customers for free but it may be worth asking at your local dealer. Try my approach - ask how it's done rather than asking them to do it. If they say you need special tools, ask them where to get them, how much they cost etc. and hopefully they'll realise it'd be quicker just to do it for you.
