pedastal attachment to hide pipes

I don't know if anybody will know what I'm talking about, but I hope at least one person will. Or even suggest something along the same lines that they know about.

A house I lived in about 5-6 years ago had an ingenious addition to the basin pedastal in the bathroom. I believe it was made of a thin enamled metal & fixed to the space left between the wall & the back of the basin, at either side of the pedastal to hide the piping. There was a flexible spring that held each side together so it fitted neatly & snugly.

I've never seen or heard anything similar to this & am not sure if the previous owner of the house had dreamed the idea up himself & had it made up. He was quite imaginative & practical, so I guess it's possible it was his own idea.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

We made a paper template of the gap and then cut the shape out of some five ply sheet.

Wedged it into place (with the help of some silicon sealant) and painted it to match the pedestal.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

You can buy a basin with a half leg stand that covers the pipes but doesn't reach the floor.
