First Neg from a hongkong scammer **UPDATE**

Ok, so got my first neg (retalitory) from a hong kong scammer who never sent my purchase & paypal found in my favour. Looking at his previous form he retaliates with a neg to get a mutual withdrawal, which he ain't getting this time as it really doesn't matter that much to me.. But just wondering if there is anything to follow up in feedback that might make all feedback be withdrawn...or is it worth contacting ebay (prob not) to try & get it removed...

I don't think you can get it removed unless you do it mutually with the other person (which kind of defeats the object of leaving neg feedback against the other person to warn others).

I would reply to their feedback on your profile to make it clear to others that it is a spite feedback and just put it down to experience. At least you got your money back.
  • I have heard that if you use expletives in feedback, or personal details for the other party in your follow up the feedback gets removed. I have never tried this, as a well thought out follow up might be better such as "Non performing seller, leaves retalitory negative feedback, DO NOT BUY FROM"

I've always been tempted to swear and leave the person's full name in my response to their FB, eg 'Mr John Smith is a ****ing lying thief'.

Not sure if ebay would remove the whole FB, both the FB's or just my response?

  • apparently they remove both, I remember reading this on the ebay message boards. However the speed at ebay move up, it would probably take about a month, and leaving that sort of feedback won't look very good on the buyer.

  • You can reply to feedback left for you, go to community and click on the feedback bit, it tells you how to do it.

Thats what I had to do when I got negged by a newbie muppet!

Remember: this scammer deserves his neg.
Take the hit and do as SJR says, make sure you comment to say that this is purely retaliatory as he lost an item not received dispute
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.
  • The only time I have ever got negative feedback removed by ebay is when I reported the seller as supplying false contact details to ebay. They found out he had done, and unregistered him, and removed both sets of feedback. You could try this, as I would be willing to bet that this Hong Kong seller has not given his correct contact address.

You might have to tell a little white lie to ebay such as you have had correspondence returned, or you have searched for his given address and there is no such place etc.

There is a report link right at the bottom.

Might try to get it lifted by showing that on his listings he advertises that items are in the UK but he ships from hong kong, that might work..
But yeh, as smartie1976 says, he deserves his neg & i did put it there to warn others so if i have to take one back in the process then so be it.......

    Hi

I wonder if this is the same one that scammed me with pirated copies of gameboy games. They were advertised as original and from uk. Arrived from hong kong, dont work and are very bad copies!! I left neg feedback and reported to ebay who have done nothing!! He has now put retalitory feedback for me saying I am the fraudster and never paid him! as if anyone is going to believe he posted the stuff out to me without me paying him first. However, ebay will not remove the neg feedback left for me even when I explained the situation. The seller has now stopped using his ebay id I am sure he has started up with a new one. This type of person gives ebay a very bad name and has put me off
