Continuous Employment

I don't know if anyone will be able to advise me - if someone was employed on 6 month temporary contract until 24 May this year, then finished up and re-employed on a fixed-term 1 year contract on 1 June would their date for continuous employment be 24 November 2008 or 1 June 2009? I thought that there had to be a minimum period between contracts, otherwise it was classed as continuous, or am I wrong?
