Another mis-selling question

Hi all – was wondering if anyone can offer me any advice. Took out an endowment in 1998 with L & G – was told by the man at the time – oh yes of course this will pay off the mortgage and give you so much money spare you won’t know what to do with it all! (well not quite but you get the idea).
Anyway – I did try a couple of years back to make a claim for mis-selling but was told that as it was hidden in the very small print that it may not fully pay out I couldn’t do anything even though we were never told this – bit from reading some of the posts on here that’s not the case
Can anyone offer any advice please?

You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same
