I am due to take residency of my 7 year old daughter.
For reason to much to explain i have not been able to be involved with her before, and now social services have removed her from her mother, i want to put as much effort as i can into the first few weeks she is living with me.
my question is am i entitled to take time of as parental leave instead of using all my annual leave days as i will need these to try an cover school holidays etc.
is there any other scheme that relates to my circumstances ( i know you can get leave for adopting and wondered if there was anything similar for someone in my position)
any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
i am willing to provide a bit more info if needed just pm me as i would rather not place it on a public forum.
cheers in advance

I would suggest that your first port of call needs to be your company's absence/sickness/holiday policies to find out their angle on family/parental leave.0

Ask for special leave, it may be unpaid tho0

As your daughter is over 5, it looks like parental leave will not apply. Like other posters, I would suggest talking to your boss / HR department to see if they would allow you to take unpaid leave / leave of absence to allow you to spend time with your daughter.0
