Seller cancels bids all day

I won an item, the seller had been cancelling all bids due to they say an error in listing. I don't mind the error I have won the item and now the seller doesn't want to play ball cancelling bids in last 12 hours. I have won the item I bid in the final seconds, they say ebay told them to cancel bids, would they do this?? They have 100% feedback, not for long if they are in the wrong. Can they do this?? Where do I stand?? Thanks in advance.

    Guy's been cancelling bids
Says he can't / won't sell to you
If he notices an 'error' in the last 24 hours, all he can do is cancel bids

Given the choice of taking him to court, or accepting that you won't get the item... I'd go with the latter.
Nothing stops you negging him though.

No-one has to sell to you, and if it was a genuine error i'd just move on, if you are happy with the explanation.
So yes they can do this, and there is nothing you can really do, apart from leave appropriate feedback if you really deem it appropriate.

Hate to say it but have YOU never made a mistake?

Put yourself in the sellers position, you say he has been cancelling bids all day, if you know that you must know he is being genuine, sure you can neg him but what would you do if you were in his position?

I thought it was a legally binding contract, didn't realise they could do this. ??

AS has been said no they shouldn't but in reality who can force them to sell?

Your only real way of protesting is to reflect your experience in the feedback you leave, but never do anything in haste, always leave things a few days and then see how it looks once you are calmer. If seller has been conciliatory then maybe don't leave feedback, but if seller ignores you or is off hand in his emails then reflect that for the benefit of future buyers.

So not only have you continued bidding but if he was cancelling bids you will also have won it at an absurdly low price?

    Hmmm

Of course, if the boot was on the other foot and I couldn't pay things would be different, it's not right the last 12 hour rule is bo11ocks then as long as you make/find an excuse to cancel bids. Surely if it was genuine ebay could have pulled the plug for her. Owing to the fact she couldn't spell was a factor as why it wasn't fetching the money she was hoping for

Looking at some of the bids that she cancelled I dont think the price was a factor here, she has clearly said that all bids were cancelled and she would relist next week with new pictures showing the repair marks that she hadn't previously noticed.

I sold an item last week, when I photographed it it was still on my sons bedroom wall, when I went to pack it I noticed a couple of marks in an area that could affect the use of it - I mailed the buyer, apologised and explained what had happened and said I was not prepared to sell it with the marks on and would rather be honest then her receive she was not happy with and the buyer was absolutely fine about it.

Why not wait until next week when she relists it and try your luck again.

Aw come on OP. She seems to have given a perfectly valid excuse and you thought you would get cute.
