Iphone upgrade - transfer apps?

I bought a PAYG iPhone last year which I am currently using on a standard O2 contract. If I buy one of the new S models and sell my current one will I be able to transfer my apps to the new one?

    I think if you sync with itunes before hand, and then again on the new phone your apps and data will be transferred.t

    Thanks for that but won't they suspect me of having the apps on both phones. I would restore old phone to factory settings before selling but Apple wouldn't know that.
