    Perhaps someone should post here when they actually manage to pay 100% for a carpetright carpet on the 1 day of the yea when the sale isn't on. Now that would be news!

    ...and if anyone does buy a carpet from them and wants them to organise the fitting, beware - they make up the prices as they go along.

    We asked how much fitting would be and were told £75 then we went in the next day and they tried to charge us £105. I told them we'd been quoted £75 and they crossed out the £105 and changed it to £75 just like that!! Also, the fitter that came was independent and only got £50 of that money so a right rip off!

    DONT BUY from them, we went through hell. First they measured it wrong - OH checked and they had allowed 10 yards more than needed - then they arrived finally and found the carpet had a dark line all the way down the middle - after they had stripped out all the other carpets they were replacing - 3 weeks later and they come back with not enough carpet, they lay one bit and returned again with some which didnt quite match!!! ........... after a year it looks rubbish and we are going to a proper little carpet shop which can do real quality axminster for double the price of Carpetwrongs nylon stuff and blow me, it will be worth it (they also pointed out that Carpetwrong had put down bedroom quality underlay on the halls, stairs and landing)

    Hi,

    No I am not an independent carpet retailer :D;
    No I have never worked for any large multiple flooring retailer :D
    No I don't 'have it in' for Carpetright or any other retailer.:D

    + notice my other posts do not directly mention any particular retailer.

    You are doing a grand job of promoting them by posting on this thread.

    I've bought vinyl from them and was happy with the price and the product so thanks for bumping up the thread as I'm needing to be looking for something else shortly.

    No problem! I'm all for people buying new flooring, and the multiple retailers have a terrific choice, but it's all the high priced extras such as underlay, gripperrods and fitting where I believe people get stung.

    I have noticed, however that my posts sound like an unhealthy Carpetright witchhunt, which I assure you, isn't, and is kindly not intended to be.

    Enjoy your new vinyl flooring!

    I totally agree with the comments about underlay, grippers and fitting being ridiculously priced from these. I priced up a carpet with them but by the time all these extras had been added it was cheaper to go to John Lewis and buy an "expensive carpet" but get the fitting and underlay at a sensible price.

    Get your underlay and gripper rods from ebay as they are much cheaper and fit them yourself as its really easy. Then just pay the fitter to fit the carpet.
