Insurance for house near river

I was getting a quote from Zurich when I noticed at the last stage they wanted me to confirm that my house is 400 meter away from water source. My house is about several hundred yards from river avon and there are quite a few resident houses between my house and the river. How do they determine the 400 m distance, straight line and walking distance? How do I find if my house is within 400 m limit? Is this common with other insurers? or I have to pay high premium for this?
