There is no Monitor. Other than that, looks fine to me. You can watch DVD's on it too! Even though you don't watch them!

It will browse the net and in general be a fine computer from the specification.

If you're comfortable with installing your own OS, then try this one (on pre order at moment)..

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/164667

    Intel e5200
    4gb Ram
    DVDRW
    500gb HD
    Keyboard / mouse

    Cost £229

Just add in price of Vista / XP which can be found for £50 - £60. Bargain.

Edit - Motherboard also supports Core 2 Quad CPU and FSB up to 1333. I'm tempted myself now!

Possibly more bang for your buck if you went for the AMD powered 546.

    See dmxdimension as posted above.

The Listed price for the 546 is the crappy Sempron Processor. A half decent Athlon x2 5200 adds another £50. Comes to £329, and spec not as good as the deal in the original post, let alone the ebuyer one.

Though to be fair, their laptop deals look pretty good.

It's also a good idea to bear in mind a new pc's upgrade potential. You may want a better upgrade spec later, in which the ram, graphics etc can be upped.
IMHO the best processors are AMD followed by Intel.

IMO Intel processors are far and away better than anything AMD has on offer at the moment! IMO. And most of the comparative reviews will show this. There isn't much in the price, the Core 2 Duos are excellent and if you need the power the quad cores are remarkable beasts.

Depends what you mean by 'best'. If you mean speedwise, then no, AMD nowhere near Intel in the higher performance segment. If you mean pound / performance, then under £100, AMD are competitive, and under £60 are better.

But if you bring overclocking in to the equation, which when done properly, is an excellent way to increase your CPU's performance, then AMD can't hold a candle to intel sadly.

Dell's deals come and go from day to day, on the face of it for the same money you got a faster processor more memory and a larger harddrive going for the AMD 546, striks me that Dell may be dropping the AMD processors again, thus the extra discount in that range.
Up to the Op of course, you pays your money.....................................................
