what is best running or cycling I dont run far, so I thought I might buy a bike

Best for what?
Exercise/Weightloss - it's probably easier to build up your fitness by cycling, but you could do a run/walk programme to build up your running. Neither give a 'all over' body workout.
General health - cycling puts less wear and tear on your knee joints (if your bike position is correct) compared to running, especially if you're heavier.
Going shopping - I ride my bike down to the local Aldi as it's about twice as fast as walking there.0 -
Exercise/Weightloss both Im about a stone overweight so when I lost my job I put on my weight0

When you cycle make sure you get yourself winded and feel the heart racing.....I cycle and enjoy it much better than running.
I also do speed walking along the seawall where I live and it helps to get that fresh air over the lungs and of course plug in your music make sure your arms pump as well as that burns even more:j0
